Welcome to AltanaListener! If you want to sit back, relax, and listen to the beautiful music of Vana'diel without logging into the game, you are in the right place.
You might be familiar with a project I work on called AltanaViewer. While that tool has its uses, it is closed source and notoriously has issues when it comes to playing music. If your goal is simply to listen to FFXI songs, AltanaViewer is a subpar solution.
AltanaListener was built from the ground up to fix that. It is completely open-source, highly stable, and engineered purely for the best audio experience possible.
Voliathon has built a completely custom audio engine and UI to give you full control over your FFXI music library:

- Download the latest release and extract the folder.
- Run
AltanaListener.exe. - If the app cannot automatically find your FFXI folder via the registry, it will ask you to point to it.

To update from a previous version without losing your settings:
- Download the new
AltanaListener_Windows.zipand extract it. - Drag and drop the new
AltanaListener.exeinto your existing folder, replacing the old one. (Do not delete yourconfig.jsonortrack_names.jsonfiles!)
Because this hotfix fundamentally changes how the app identifies tracks (to fix the duplicate file name bug), any favorites or custom playlists created in v1.0.1 will unfortunately not carry over to v1.0.2. I apologize for the inconvenience, but this new tracking system ensures your data is permanently safe moving forward!
