Automated Masteries 5e

Latest Version Foundry Core Compatible Version Dnd5e System Compatible Version

Description

A Foundry VTT module to automate 5e system's weapon masteries (requires Automated Conditions 5e module)

If you like what I do, consider supporting this lonely bugbear 🐾

Every shiny gold coin helps keep the ideas flowing and the goblins at bay.

You can also join the Bugbear’s Den to hang out, get help, or check what I might be working on!

How to use

Click on the chat message Mastery link to use it.

Works for the following weapons masteries:

  • Cleave
  • Graze
  • Nick (nothing to automate)
  • Push
  • Sap
  • Slow
  • Topple
  • Vex

As the system uses left click to open the Journal entry for each mastery, the module changes that behavior.

To open the Journal entries you can instead right click on the mastery link.

SHIFT + left click on the weapon mastery will bypass rules like: "Needs a successful attack to use".

NPC masteries supported (v14.533.3+)

You can now enable NPC masteries from the module settings, and then any item with a Mastery selected will be triggered for non player actors too.

Custom weapon mastery options (v14.533.6+)

WM5E can help dnd5e recognize custom weapon base item keys for weapon mastery choices.

Open Module Settings > Automated Masteries 5e > Custom Weapon IDs, choose a short custom key like psychicBlade, then drag a compendium Item into the UUID field or paste its UUID.

For the actual custom weapon:

  • Set the weapon's Base Item to the same custom key.
  • Set the weapon's Mastery to the mastery it should use.
  • Grant the actor knowledge of that custom key either via the normal actor sheet method or with an Active Effect change:
key: system.traits.weaponProf.mastery.value
mode: add
value: psychicBlade

Weapons using that same base item key and a configured mastery can then appear in dnd5e weapon mastery choices.

I installed the module but nothing is happening!

Your actor needs to have a Mastery on the weapon of choice. To make sure they are setup, toggle the edit mode in the actor's character sheet, locate the "Configure Weapons" and enable the Masteries you want!
