Survey records and permit state are persisted in MongoDB because the document model fits the way ecologists actually structure their field data, and Redis handles all long-term species classification lookups and regulatory rule caching. The frontend is a lean React app that talks exclusively to the gateway — no direct service access, no exceptions. Deployment is fully containerized and the infrastructure fits on a single manifest file.
