MolassesChain is built on a microservices backbone with each byproduct stream handled by an isolated ingestion worker running behind a Kafka message bus. All transactional data — contract settlements, cert issuances, margin flags — is persisted in MongoDB, which handles the write throughput at refinery scale without breaking a sweat. Stream state and active auction sessions are held in Redis for long-term durability across broker sessions. Every service exposes a gRPC interface internally; the public API is REST only, rate-limited, and versioned from day one.
