Before submitting to CRAN, I noticed the NEWS.md file was missing the current statgen version (it said 0.3.0 instead of 0.3.2). CRAN policy requires NEWS.md to describe changes in the submitted version so in the future it would be good to update NEWS.md with the current version and changelog prior to each tagged release on Github.
