Summary

Adds a "Supported GPU instance types" table to the Running GPU workloads guide, covering all NVIDIA-enabled EC2 instance types Porter supports on AWS EKS — including the newly added p5.4xlarge, p5e.48xlarge, and p5en.48xlarge SKUs.

Changes

  • Add a Supported GPU instance types section grouping instance types by family (G4dn, G5, G6, G6e, P4d, P5, P5e, P5en) with their GPU model and typical use case.
  • Fix the dangling "see table below" reference in the node group configuration step to link to the new section.
  • Call out the AWS Running On-Demand P instances quota requirement for larger P-family instances.
  • Note the porter.run/has-gpu=true label and the NVIDIA device plugin behavior so users know how GPU scheduling works.

Context

Backend support for the full publicly-available P5 family is now in place (single-GPU p5.4xlarge, plus p5e.48xlarge and p5en.48xlarge with H200 GPUs). The smaller p5.4xlarge is useful for single-node H100 workloads, while p5en.48xlarge adds EFAv3 networking for multi-node distributed training.
