Everything the repository needs before it is public and tagged, and nothing that changes the app.

  • MIT license. Public with no license file is readable but not reusable.
  • CI (.github/workflows/ci.yml) — gofmt -l, go vet, go test ./..., node --test, and a make deb packaging build. One job, because each suite takes seconds and a matrix would make the required-check name harder to pin down in the ruleset.
  • .githooks/pre-push refusing pushes to main, tracked so it survives a fresh clone. git config core.hooksPath .githooks is the one manual step, documented in both READMEs.

main gets a ruleset after this merges: no direct pushes, PR required, CI green.

The repository is going public, and public-with-no-license means readable
but not reusable. MIT because nothing here wants a patent grant or a
copyleft obligation.

One job rather than a matrix: each suite takes seconds, and a matrix would
only make the required-check name harder to pin down in the branch ruleset.

The packaging build is in there because nfpm.yaml breaks silently — nothing
else exercises it, and the .deb is the delivery mechanism for the thing.

The ruleset rejects a push to main, but only after the objects have gone
over the wire and with a message that does not say what to do instead. The
hook catches the habit first.

Tracked under .githooks rather than left in .git/hooks so it survives a
fresh clone; core.hooksPath is the one command that has to be run by hand,
and both READMEs now say so.
