Originally, I didn't think this was necessary but thinking ahead to other uses of solver state I think it could be and its better to build the foundations now. Given the API is identical to linear_solve there should be no confusion from users. Behaviour in the sentinel case (no state) case is identical (solver.init called before creating closure) but I added the missing stop gradient guard.
