About The Project

A modern terminal UI for GNU Info manuals. Separate from prohelp so it can be proposed upstream as an info replacement without dragging progressive-help / SDL into Texinfo politics.

• Read installed .info files (and fall back to man when useful).

• Clean Top chrome — suppress the noisy File: … Node: Top header on the dir/Top landing unless a manual was requested.

• Prefer Overview / Description / Introduction content before Copyright / Copying / License.

• Mouse-capable TUI via opentui-d.

• Non-TTY dump mode for pipes.

• Emit short orientation SDL for about / help --orient.

Usage

./info                 # dir index / Top
./info libc            # open a manual
./info --dump tar      # plaintext dump
./info --orient tar    # write orientation.sdl fragment to stdout
