LiteDoc runs entirely on your computer. It turns PDF documents into Markdown files. You do not need an internet connection to use it. Your documents stay on your machine. This protects your privacy. You gain a simple file that you can edit in any text editor.
You do not need to know code to use this tool. Follow the steps below to install and run the software on your Windows computer.

- Open your Downloads folder.

Once you reach the page, click the green button or the latest release link at the top of the sidebar. Download the Windows installer. When the download stops, run the file. Windows might ask for permission to run the installer. Click Run. The installation takes less than a minute. You find a new icon on your desktop after the process ends.
- Open the LiteDoc app using the desktop icon.
- Click the button labeled Open PDF.
- Select the file you want to convert.
- Click the Convert button.
- Wait for the progress bar to finish.
- Click the Save button to store your new file.
The software places your Markdown file in the same folder as your original PDF. The file keeps the same name but uses a .md ending. You can open this file with Notepad, WordPad, or any Markdown editor.
LiteDoc works on most modern Windows machines. Ensure your computer meets these basic needs:

What happens if the conversion fails? Check if your PDF has a password. The app cannot convert locked or encrypted files. Ensure the file is not corrupted. If the problem persists, try to open the PDF in a reader and print it to a new PDF file before using LiteDoc.
Can I change where the files go? Yes. Look for the Settings menu in the app. You can change the default output folder to any location on your computer.
