Notes for anyone who would want to try using this: To fix this, you will need the new .vscode settings proposed here as well as to install the fixed g++, gcc, and gdb versions as per instructed in the new README for windows. |

The proposed changes also make the Getting Started instructions for every OS more intuitive and user-friendly (now makes use of Visual Studio Code's local cloning GUI).
