Summary

  • Adds a prominent notice at the top of the README directing users to nicklockwood/SwiftFormat, the actively maintained community-standard Swift formatter
  • Describes what nicklockwood/SwiftFormat offers: CLI, Xcode extension, SPM plugin, 50+ rules, and active maintenance — with installation instructions
  • Adds an "About this repo" section explaining this was an early Python prototype (~2015) that is no longer maintained
  • Preserves all original README content below under an "Original Content (Historical)" section

Why

This repo is an unmaintained experiment. Anyone finding it via search deserves to be pointed straight to the tool that became the community standard, rather than trying to use a decade-old Python script.

This repo is an unmaintained Python prototype from ~2015. The README now
prominently directs users to nicklockwood/SwiftFormat, the actively
maintained community-standard Swift formatter, while preserving the
original content as historical context.
