EcoIndus is an open-access environmental intelligence and climate data initiative for Pakistan. The platform aggregates spatial datasets, satellite telemetry, environmental research, and public awareness workflows to empower researchers, communities, and decision-makers.
This repository serves as the official public information portal, organizational overview, and documentation hub for the EcoIndus GitHub organization (@ecoindus).
Pakistan contributes less than 1% to global greenhouse gas emissions yet remains among the most climate-vulnerable nations worldwide. EcoIndus addresses this disparity by consolidating complex climate datasets into accessible, interactive data tools focused on:
- Climate Intelligence & Vulnerability: Analyzing historical emission trajectories, regional temperature anomalies, glacial melt dynamics in northern mountain ranges, and extreme weather impacts.
- Deforestation & Canopy Loss Analytics: Monitoring district- and province-level forest cover, canopy density changes, and land-use trends using satellite Earth observation datasets.
- Thermal Anomalies & Wildfire Telemetry: Ingesting near real-time satellite fire intelligence (e.g., VIIRS and MODIS telemetry) to track fire activity, radiative power, and seasonal outbreak patterns.
- Environmental Literacy & Awareness Hub: Publishing scientific explainers, policy research articles, and interactive educational tools to foster climate awareness.
