Play Store step apps are loud. Other GitHub pedometers are good, but most still add streaks, coins, or extra charts. Burn was cut down on purpose: Steps and Settings. Built by Arjun (formerly named Bulk) for people who just want to walk, including older adults.
- Counts in the background and after reboot
- Ring, timer (
HH:MM:SS), km, kcal - Day / week / month history
- Pitch-black theme
- A health line each time you open Steps (heart, blood pressure, sugar, joints)
- After 4,000 steps: Ahead of N% of people today (a typical-day estimate, not other users)
- JSON backup. Nothing uploaded.
From Releases:

Android will warn that the file is outside Play Store. Allow that source once. Needs a step sensor and activity permission.
- Tap Start Walking.
- Keep the phone on you.
- Tap Stop & Save.
Honest write-up: compare page. Short version: Play Store apps often have ads. FOSS apps like Stepsy are more complete. Burn is the thin GitHub APK.
