Movies. TV. Anime. Community. Absolute Control.
Welcome to the 2.0 era. cinematique has evolved from a solitary, local-first fortress into a high-performance, hybrid social ecosystem. Track your media, build stunning custom lists, and connect with a community of cinephiles—all while retaining total control over your digital footprint.
Your data can still live strictly on your device if you choose. But if you want to step into the light, you can now claim your handle, share your taste, and see how your cinematic preferences stack up against your friends.
Note: This repository handles tracking, community feedback, and documentation. Visit cinematique.me to access the newly refactored desktop web platform or find our mobile deployment channels.
Your foundational tracker database remains yours, stored securely on your device. Accounts are completely optional. If you choose to create an account to unlock the social layer, you retain granular privacy sliders to keep your profile private, hide your feed, or restrict who sees your takes.
Claim your unique @handle, craft your bio, and build your social circle. View real-time activity feeds, track community distributions, and check your literal percentage-based compatibility with friends using Cinematch—our engine that calculates shared genre DNA and title alignment.
We've gutted the legacy backend and migrated to a high-performance relational schema. Background cloud backups now utilize an incremental watermark system—syncing only the data modified since your last successful session to save bandwidth and maximize speed.
Turn your viewing habits into a progression system. Earn durable, app-native achievements for tracking milestones, unlock collectible digital stickers ("Cinemastickers") via a retro terminal hub, and level up your rank from a humble "Cine-Novice" to a legendary film tier.
A complete visual overhaul. Centralized design tokens manage surfaces, borders, elevations, and states globally across themes like Light, Dark, OLED, Sepia, and CRT. Toggle on the CRT or Gameboy modes for full-screen scanlines and responsive, organic background morphing.
Dedicated anime hub providing distinct tabs, filters, and tracking states. Supported by comprehensive holding, dropping, and planning mechanics alongside manual flags to prevent background metadata aggregators from overwriting your personal choices.
- Responsive Multi-Column Grid – Media detail pages scale fluidly from compact mobile displays to ultrawide desktop layouts.
- Markdown Review Composer – Star ratings now expand into rich text text editors supporting recommendations and strict spoiler blocks.
- Curated Public Lists – Create, publish, or follow community collections like "Cyberpunk Essentials" or "Movies to Watch on a Rainy Tuesday."
- Gesture-Driven Media Cards – Long-press cards to trigger context action menus, backed by movement guards to prevent accidental scrolling triggers.
- Retro TV Cabinet Spotlight – Browse short-form media clips in an interactive retro television framework with static overlays and channel selectors.
- Stats & Insight Snapshots – View highly optimized local and community analytics panels detailing score distributions and view heatmaps.
cinematique is fully functional for everyone. For users who want to push the app to its absolute limits, our Lume tier unlocks heavy-duty tracking capabilities:
| Feature Capability | Core Tier | Lume Premium Tier |
|---|---|---|
| Curated Lists | Up to 3 custom tracking lists | Unlimited custom list creation |
| Cloud Storage | Standard incremental sync | Cloud Backup Vault (Point-in-time snapshots) |
| Profile Cosmetics | System avatars & standard themes | High-res image uploads + Custom gradient frames |
| Advanced Tools | Manual API configurations | Dedicated Lume Hub workspace + Monthly AI usage allocations |
Your taste is your data. We do not sell your review history, watchlist habits, or stats snapshots to third-party advertisers. If you decide to leave the ecosystem, our Nuclear Self-Destruct Button instantly purges your social graph, cloud activity feed, and server achievements from our databases.
External integrations function strictly when you choose to connect them:
| Service | Purpose | Data Layer Shared |
|---|---|---|
| TMDB API | Core movie & TV metadata parsing | Search and detail queries only |
| AniList / MAL | Specialized anime tracking sync | Synchronized watch progress and scores |
| Trakt / Simkl | Historical import & platform symmetry | Watch history records (User controlled) |
| Google Gemini | Optional smart summaries & insights | Non-personal media prompts |
- Use Spoiler Tags: Ruining a massive, decade-long plot twist for the community without using the Markdown spoiler block is a fast track to a review-ban.
- Be Excellent to Each Other: Constructive critique of media is highly encouraged; harassing someone because they gave your favorite anime a 1/10 will result in immediate account termination.
- No Review Spam or Botting: The review database is for human expressions. Deploying scripts, automated commercial spam, or repetitive text to game the global tracking leaderboards will get your account permanently blacklisted.
cinematique is built and engineered by one developer, fueled by cold coffee, and strictly supervised by a Siamese cat named Íris. If you want to help keep the relational servers running and API endpoints paid, consider supporting the journey:
