four films enter. one personality leaves.
An unqualified reading of your film taste.
Typecast turns four favourite films into a short, mildly hostile film archetype. It reads too much into your choices, explains the verdict, and presents the result as a cinematic share card.
The experience is intentionally playful: the result is an AI-generated personality reading, not a psychological assessment.
- Visit typecast.ai9an.com.
- Enter a public Letterboxd username or profile URL. Typecast will pull the four favourite films shown on that profile.
- If you prefer, switch to enter manually and provide four different film titles.
- Select typecast me and wait for your verdict.
- Use reroll verdict for a second opinion, or download verdict to save a PNG share card.
If Letterboxd cannot provide four favourites, the films it can find are carried over so you can complete the list manually.
- Letterboxd profile lookup or manual film entry
- AI-generated archetype and explanation
- Film posters and metadata for the result
- Nine visual themes inspired by films

- No account required and no results stored by the app
- Built with codex
- Archetypes are generated with Google Gemini.
- Film metadata and poster artwork are provided through The Movie Database API. Typecast is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
- Letterboxd is used to read public favourite-film lists. Typecast is not affiliated with or endorsed by Letterboxd.
- When Letterboxd blocks direct server requests, Typecast uses Jina Reader as a fallback to read the same public profile page.
- The API runs on Cloudflare Workers.
- Interface type is set in Space Grotesk, IBM Plex Sans, and IBM Plex Mono.
Typecast sends the submitted film information to its external API to generate a result and retrieve poster data. Public Letterboxd profile URLs may also be sent to Jina Reader when Letterboxd blocks a direct server request. The frontend does not create an account or save results; theme preference and the local reroll cooldown may be kept in your browser.
