TRANSONO (Esperanto for "sound transmission") is an open-source project whose goal is to make modern real-time speech translation accessible to everyone.
More than a century ago, Esperanto was created to help overcome language barriers and bring people from different countries and cultures closer together. Today, advances in artificial intelligence offer another way to achieve the same vision: allowing everyone to speak their native language while understanding one another.
TRANSONO exists to help make that vision a reality.
Despite tremendous technological progress, language remains one of the greatest barriers to human communication.
It affects:
- international teamwork;
- conferences and online meetings;
- education;
- travel;
- friendships and everyday conversations.
Modern AI models are already capable of translating speech almost in real time. However, many existing solutions are difficult to configure, tied to specific services, or distributed as closed-source software.
The goal of TRANSONO is to provide a free, open and extensible platform that makes modern AI-powered speech translation simple and accessible.
The project is currently under active development.
Planned capabilities include:
- real-time speech translation;
- support for multiple AI providers;
- integration with video conferencing applications;
- cross-platform support;
- modular architecture;
- plugins and custom providers.
TRANSONO is written in Rust with a strong focus on:
- high performance;
- low-latency audio processing;
- cross-platform compatibility;
- extensibility.
The project is designed as a collection of independent components, making it possible to add new AI models, services and audio-processing techniques without redesigning the core architecture.
TRANSONO is currently in an early stage of development.
The architecture is still evolving, and some APIs may change before the first stable 1.0 release.
TRANSONO is developed as an open-source project.
Contributions of any kind are warmly welcome.
