Code of Conduct — Orenva Health

This is the organisation-wide default Code of Conduct for every repository under Orenva-Health. Where an individual repository has its own CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md, that policy takes precedence.

Orenva builds healthcare infrastructure. The people who contribute to our repositories — staff, contractors, researchers, clinicians, patients, security reporters, and members of the wider community — deserve a respectful and harassment-free experience.

Our standards

We expect everyone who participates in an Orenva-Health repository or community space (issues, pull requests, discussions, security disclosures, email, video calls) to:

  • Be welcoming, patient, and kind — particularly with people who are new to the project, less experienced, or communicating in a second or third language
  • Assume good intent and ask clarifying questions before escalating
  • Disagree about ideas without attacking people
  • Respect the privacy of patients, clinicians, and colleagues — never share real personal data in issues, pull requests, logs, screenshots, or chats
  • Credit contributors honestly; do not claim others' work as your own

We will not tolerate:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form, including on the basis of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, level of experience, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity or orientation
  • Sexualised language or imagery, or unwelcome sexual attention
  • Doxxing, stalking, or publishing private information without explicit permission
  • Sustained disruption of discussion, deliberate misinformation, or bad-faith engagement
  • Threats of violence

Scope

This Code applies to every space the project operates in: GitHub repositories (issues, pull requests, discussions, code review, the wiki), email threads with the project team, video calls, and any event where someone represents Orenva Health.

It also applies when an individual is officially representing the project in a public space — for example, using an @orenvahealth.com email address, posting via an official social media account, or acting as an appointed representative at an online or offline event.

Reporting

Report Code of Conduct concerns to conduct@orenvahealth.com. Reports are read by the founders (Geet Patil and Jordan Gilbert). If the report concerns one of the founders, send it to the other founder directly via LinkedIn rather than the shared inbox.

Include, where you can:

  • What happened, where, and when
  • Who was involved
  • Any links or screenshots that help us understand the situation
  • What outcome you are hoping for

We treat reports as confidential. We will acknowledge within one business day and tell you what we are doing within five business days.

Enforcement

The founders may take any action they consider appropriate, up to and including:

  • Private warning
  • Public warning
  • Temporary suspension from one or more Orenva-Health repositories or community spaces
  • Permanent ban from all Orenva-Health repositories and community spaces
  • For Orenva staff or contractors: action under the relevant employment, contractor, or vendor agreement

Decisions are not subject to public appeal, but a person who has been actioned may request a review in writing within 14 days.

Attribution

This Code is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, v2.1, with project-specific additions for clinical-data sensitivity.
