Sophomore building Orbit, a production academic planning platform used by 330+ UMD students. I also research deep RL and soft robotics, ship cross-platform games, and care about UX that respects how students actually plan their degrees.
Outside code: soccer, UMD fantasy book club president, BitCamp quantum track organizer.
- Orbit - hub dashboard, institutional outreach ahead of UMD's Elevate → Workday transition
- LEAD Lab (UMD) — starting Fall 2026 as an undergraduate RA on SLIDE and the Jacobs CIFAR fellowship projects
- Royal Scribe — macOS writing assistant with voice-consistent ghost text
- DM's Companion — RAG co-pilot for tabletop RPG sessions (tested on my book club campaigns)
Orbit · Live · orbitumd.com · Public snapshot
330+ @umd.edu sign-ins · 1,700+ schedules built
One place for degree audit, four-year planning, schedule building, GPA insights, and scholarship discovery. Built because UMD's official tools (Testudo, uAchieve, Venus) don't talk to each other.
- Shipped to real users with @umd.edu auth, FERPA-aware data handling, and live catalog sync
- Full-stack: React SPA, Supabase/Postgres, Vercel, data pipelines, CI
- Exploring how student planning tools fit UMD's Elevate → Workday transition
React TypeScript Supabase Turborepo Vercel
Deep RL at the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Sciences (CMU). PPO + MCTS self-play agents with CNN board encodings. ~85% win rate over tuned heuristics across 18,000+ GPU-simulated games. Co-authored a peer-reviewed PGSS Journal paper.
PyTorch Deep RL PPO MCTS
Cross-platform puzzle game with collectible chests, unlockable skins, and daily modes. Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and web.
.NET MAUI SvelteKit C#
Face Tracking Space Invaders · 1st Place, Hackstoga 2023
Dodge game with no keyboard and no mouse. Background subtraction turns your silhouette into a collision mask; dlib tracks your face as the spaceship. Smiling on a hit gives you a 50% survival chance.
Python OpenCV dlib cvzone
iOS app that generates multi-day trip itineraries with GPT-4, Google Maps, and Booking.com. CoreLocation and CoreData for offline storage; retries and rate-limit handling for unreliable networks.
SwiftUI GPT-4 REST APIs CoreData
iOS AR scavenger hunt for a live campus initiative. RealityKit world tracking, SwiftUI interface, and demo-ready persistence for real-world movement and interruptions.
SwiftUI RealityKit SwiftData iOS
LEAD Lab, University of Maryland (Fall 2026 – May 2027, upcoming)
Undergraduate Research Assistant with Dr. Rachel Romeo (Language, Experience, and Development Lab, College of Education). Working on SLIDE (Stress and Language Influences on Development in Early childhood): linking moment-to-moment caregiver stress to conversational turns (LENA) and school readiness. Also supporting the Jacobs CIFAR Research Fellowship work on neural coupling between teachers and students during classroom learning.
Quantum Rare Cell Recognition (2026, ongoing)
Independent quantum ML project benchmarking PennyLane quantum kernels against classical clustering for rare-cell detection in single-cell RNA-seq data. PennyLane, Qiskit, scikit-learn.
Anxious Generation Screen-Time Study (Aug 2024 – Dec 2025)
Lead researcher. Stratified, cluster-sampled survey of high school students (n ≈ 140). Cleaned heterogeneous iOS/Android usage data; linear regression and t-tests (α = 0.01) found significant associations between weekly phone use, sociability, anxiety, and weekday sleep.
Zheng Lab, Drexel University (May – Jul 2025)
Designed tendon-driven soft robotic manipulators (SpiRob) in SolidWorks and built GPU-accelerated soft-body simulations in NVIDIA Isaac Gym. Fabrication and control work in SpiRobControls.
PGSS at Carnegie Mellon University (Summer 2024)
Led the BlokusDuo deep RL team. PPO + MCTS self-play with CNN encodings; ~85% win rate over 18,000+ GPU games. Co-authored a peer-reviewed PGSS Journal paper.
Drexel Bioengineering Summer Program (Summer 2022)
Prototyped AR-enhanced physical therapy goggles in Blender, exploring motion tracking and visual feedback for rehab exercises.
| Project | Stack | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Fake News Risk Identifier | Python, XGBoost, TensorFlow | NLP classifier, 85%+ accuracy target |
| Medication Management App | React Native, TypeScript | HCI-driven adherence tracker |
| Maze Theories | Python, Jupyter | Graph theory on maze generation and solving |
| Dimensional Motion | Python, Jupyter | Noisy motion data analysis (AP Physics lab) |
Building with: TypeScript/React, Python/PyTorch, Swift/SwiftUI, Supabase/Postgres
Research: Deep RL, soft robotics simulation (Isaac Gym), quantum kernels (PennyLane), developmental psycholinguistics (upcoming)
Also: SolidWorks, G-code, OpenCV, .NET MAUI, REST APIs
Open to research and SWE internships (Summer 2027 and beyond). Especially interested in HCI, edtech, ML systems, and robotics.
