Our goal with this license is to keep the codebase open for developers, students, and researchers to explore our RAG architecture and chunking logic, while protecting the project against unauthorized commercial exploitation and competing SaaS offerings.
You are completely free to download, modify, and use this project for:
- Personal and Academic projects.
- Non-commercial research.
- Temporary Internal Evaluation: You can set up the project (including ChromaDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Celery workers) in a local or isolated sandbox environment to evaluate if it fits your organization's needs.
You may not use this software for commercial purposes without an explicit commercial license. This includes:
- Production Deployment: Integrating the software into your company's daily operations or active data pipelines.
- Managed Services (SaaS): Offering the software to third parties as a hosted service, API, or search platform.
Future Open Source Conversion: In the spirit of the open-source community, every version of this software will automatically transition to the permissive Apache License 2.0 exactly four years after its specific release date.
