Response Time:

  • Initial response: Within 48 hours
  • Update timeline: Within 7 days

🚨 Security Considerations

Network Security

  • HTTPS enforcement where possible
  • Certificate verification enabled by default
  • Tor support for anonymous browsing (optional)
  • Proxy configuration through environment variables

Data Security

  • Local storage in ~/.naviduck_data.json (plain text)
  • No cloud sync or remote data storage
  • History/bookmarks stored locally only
  • Automatic clearing options available

Authentication

  • No built-in authentication for websites
  • Cookies stored by requests session (in memory)
  • Session-based - no persistent login storage

⚠️ Known Security Limitations

1. Plain Text Storage

Risk: These files are not encrypted. Anyone with file access can read your browsing history.

2. No Sandboxing

  • NaviDuck runs with the same permissions as your user account
  • Downloaded content is not isolated
  • Script execution from web content is parsed but not executed

3. HTML Parsing Risks

  • Regex-based parsing may miss malicious content
  • No content security policy (CSP) enforcement
  • Limited protection against XSS in displayed content

4. Network Traffic

  • User-Agent is visible to websites
  • No built-in VPN or encryption beyond HTTPS
  • Tor integration requires separate Tor installation
