I'm really positively surprised by the improvement over scail 1. When it comes to animation I think this is the best model we've ever had so thank you to the whole z.ai Lab for the effort.

I have an issue related to skin texture (not just me I've talked to a ton of people on reddit and everyone has bigger or smaller problems with it) and since a lot of comfyui experts don't have a good solution for this problem I've talked to dozens of people on reddit discord and other places and decided to ask here if there's any known good solution from the model authors to improve the skin? My reference images are good they have real skin detail but the model itself makes it look unnatural.

I've tested a lot of approaches several lora models and only one gives a somewhat decent improvement to the skin: https://civitai.com/models/1822984/instagirl-wan-22

I'm using low noise at strength 0.5 but the first frames of the video end up "broken" because of it so this solution isn't perfect either.

Would love to hear the authors thoughts on this and whether they have any solution like a lora or something else to improve skin detail? I attached my comfy workflow. Thank you very much.

Yes, skin texture is still a known limitation. Since SCAIL-2 is built on top of the WAN 2.1 I2V base model, fine-grained skin detail is somewhat constrained by the base model itself.

You can try LoRAs trained on WAN 2.1 or 2.2, and some may help (like instagirl-wan-22), but because they were not trained specifically for SCAIL-2, we can’t guarantee compatibility or consistent results. So you may encounter "broken" results when using these LoRAs.

For now, the most practical workaround is to use a multi-reference workflow, especially adding a close-up reference image that clearly shows the desired facial/skin texture. Trying a higher generation resolution may also help.

We do plan to open-source the SCAIL-2 training code in the future, and that should make it easier for the community to fine-tune the model for issues like skin texture.

Ohh that's super nice to hear. Community always delivers solid solutions if the model is popular enough. I think the model didn't get the hype it deserved, it's really good. Hope when you'll open training code it will get way more hype.
