Context
Real use suggests that DRAFTED is working not because the quota itself is large, but because it removes the friction of starting to write. The next obvious source of friction is having to find and open the plot / notes / reference material after the manuscript appears.
Proposal
Allow a drafting target to optionally include a reference URL in addition to the manuscript URL.
When an ambush starts:
- open/focus the manuscript as today
- if a reference URL is configured, open it alongside the manuscript in a second browser window
- arrange them as a simple side-by-side writing workspace where practical
- suggested initial layout: manuscript ~70%, reference ~30%
- if no reference URL is configured, preserve current behavior exactly
The first version only needs one optional reference URL (for example a plot document). We can later consider multiple references such as:
- plot
- character notes
- worldbuilding / setting notes
The core idea is that DRAFTED should not only force the manuscript to appear; it should be able to summon the writing environment with as little setup friction as possible.
Acceptance criteria
- A target can optionally store one reference URL in addition to the manuscript URL.
- Starting a drafting session with a reference configured opens both manuscript and reference material.
- The two are placed side by side where supported by the browser/window APIs.
- The manuscript remains the primary writing surface and receives focus appropriately.
- Existing targets without a reference URL behave exactly as they do now.
- The feature does not interfere with quota tracking, discharge, scheduling, or
TEST DRAFT NOW.
Non-goal for the first version
Do not build a full project/workspace manager yet. One manuscript + one optional reference is enough to validate whether the reduced-friction workflow is useful.
