Google drive sync

Have you thought about implementing Google drive sync? I know it can be a pain, but I'm thinking of starting to experiment with it. I'm working on a web app (https://github.com/fleapower/GooDo.txt) which syncs with Google Drive and using DriveSync to sync Simpletask. I'd love to be able to do away with DriveSync.

I use Syncthing to automatically sync between mobile devices and computers, where I use a text editor from the command line and not relying on a GUI or a Web browser. So, I don't have a need for Google Drive integration or any other integration.

The Simpletask code is already very old, with lots of (almost) deprecated code. Although the main purpose of this repo is to maintain a minimal set of features, I am not against Google Drive integration being added and maintained by someone else, but it may not be forth the effort.

There are other Android app(s) that support the todo.txt format and I think also Google Drive integration, but unfortunately I have not found one that presents the list in todo.txt specific ways (grouping, sorting) as well as Simpletask does. Creating a feature request at one of those apps might be a good idea.

Gotcha. Understand the sentiment. I have plenty of projects which don't go beyond my personal use case.

IMHO simpletask is very well suited for todotxt. I have tried others: obsidian, markor, mindstream and they don't come close. I plan to use simpletask and also help maintain it as long as I can. So I am supportive of any feature add.

I added Google drive sync. I've been using it for several weeks and it is working smoothly.

I also wrote a Google Script app which works in a desktop browser (it is Google Drive only). I'd like to add a couple of features and update the help file as I've remapped a few of the keys, but it is working well enough for daily use.

Cool. I tried it.

I found some issues, but it could be something I did, Your git repo has no option to report issues:

• The app did not ask me for permission to access the local storage on startup. Only when I did a "Reload" did it ask me for permission.
• I got "E TodoApplication: java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to resume activity {willemw12.simpletask.gdrive.debug/nl.mpcjanssen.simpletask.Simpletask}: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/willemw12.simpletask.gdrive.debug/files/todo.txt: open failed: ENOENT (No such file or directory)". I had to create that file. Note: I renamed ".debug" to ".gdrive.debug" before building and running the debug version of the app.
• I enabled the "Google Drive Integration" in Settings. I signed into Google Drive, but still got: "java.lang.Exception: Not signed in to Google Drive", but maybe I missed something or did something wrong.

Also, please don't expose your passwords. You should probably change them (before uploading any .apk file).

Where were my passwords exposed?! Where do I look to see which passwords? I have no idea how that happened (I'm not that experienced with GitHub).

Thanks for trying it. I'll take a look and see if I can figure out why those issues are occurring.

Thanks for the help on this. I think everything is fixed. I want to go through and start replacing deprecated code, but that seems like a really huge undertaking.

Probably the GUI cannot be replaced in small steps. You may want to replace the code on a separate git branch.
