Feature request: Replace an image in place in CMS Rich Text / Image fields (no delete-and-reinsert) #138

Description

@bigmmind

Feature request: "Replace image" for an image already placed in a CMS Rich Text field (and CMS Image fields)

Today, once an image is inside a CMS Rich Text field, there is no way to swap it in place. To change it you must delete the whole figure and insert a new one — which shifts the surrounding text, drops the caption, and loses the alignment/float you had set. It is very easy to wreck the layout doing this, and for a client maintaining a blog it is a real, recurring pain.

Ask

Let users click an existing image in a Rich Text field (or a CMS Image field) and choose "Replace" — keeping the figure's position, caption, alignment/float, and size. This is standard behavior in every other editor and is common sense for a CMS.

Why it matters

This is the counterpart to the API image bugs (see the related issue about API-inserted images not rendering on the Designer canvas). Between "API-inserted images don't show on canvas" and "you can't replace an image without destroying the layout," maintaining article imagery in Webflow is painful. A simple in-place Replace would fix the manual side.
