On-Load Display

The current on-load page, while clean, seems to convey a sense of emptiness/no events. We should do something to convey that there are events.

Ideas:

• Somehow get a general user region and show some events in that area
• Have animated markers on map
• Have "highlighted" events
• Cookies to show last location searched
• "Show me what's in the map area"

Get permission to obtain the user's location, zoom to their current location, and show events within a 100-mile radius within the next 14 days automatically, and let them modify the filters AFTER showing them what's going on?

Or, start with a full map of events across the US and as you zoom to their area reduce the radius of events from national to local to give a sense of scale of all of the events happening in support of Sen. Warren? This might be an encouragement to visitors - to see that they're part of something a whole lot bigger than just what they are a part of locally.

If starting with full US map, could show only events in the next 24 or 48 hours to reduce the number of markers.

Two separate use cases: 1) a brand new user => some default such as starting with a full US map for next two days and 2) a returning user => display the last map or if we eventually support user preferences, pop up whatever map is appropriate for those preferences (phone-bank in next 48 hours near )
