If you aren't logged in and try to visit some page that needs a login, you'll get redirected to https://squaresdb.mit.edu/accounts/login/?next=... which says "Most users won't have a username and password, but if you do (eg, for doing gate/books), you can log in below." It also has a prominent username/password box -- I think a bunch of people don't read the message or read the message but don't understand what else to do, so we should really redo the page to at least have clearer next steps for non-password -- eg, actually link to the various other login options. For bonus points, we could probably hide the username/password boxes behind a ~"click to expand" type link, so they need to choose to click on "password" instead of "Google" before even looking at the text boxes.
