Hi Vincent,

one more thing on top of the listing above, since it's about your project's identity rather than the code.

Syravo credits AetherEngine in the app's Settings → About section (name, pinned version, source link, LGPL notice) and in the footer of syravo.app. I'd like to put a small copy of your orb logo (.github/aetherengine-logo.png) in front of the word "AetherEngine" in both places — as an identifier for the engine, next to the existing link back to this repository. It's decorative and does not claim any partnership, endorsement or co-branding.

The image is served from my own origin only (downscaled, no hotlinking to GitHub); the apps load and cache it at runtime and bundle no copy, so a single website deploy removes it everywhere at once — no app release involved.

The repo has no trademark or brand-usage note and LGPL covers code, not marks, so I'd rather ask than assume. It's live now so you can see the actual result: https://syravo.app/ (footer) — say the word and it's gone the same day.

Is that okay with you? Happy to change size, spacing or placement, or to drop it entirely.

Thanks, and thanks for what came before this one. The reader and sequential-origin work behind #307, #368 through #370, #380 and #388 changed real behaviour in the engine, so seeing what it is being built for is welcome.

The listing. Approved. The label opens the PR that inserts the entry, merging it publishes the line, and the docs site picks it up on its next build. The entry reads:

If the link should point at an App Store page once the app is out, say so and it gets swapped. The list is not frozen.

The logo. Use it, in both places, and nothing needs to change. The mark is the repo's own asset downscaled, the placement sits next to a link back to the repository, and nothing about it reads as a partnership claim. Serving it from your own origin instead of hotlinking is the better arrangement anyway. Two preferences, neither worth a deploy of its own:

• The name is one word with two capitals, AetherEngine. The short form "Aether" in body copy once the full name has appeared is fine.
• .github/aetherengine-logo.png is the 1024px source if you ever need the mark larger. Ask if another size or a transparent variant would help.

One licensing note, since Syravo ships through the App Store. The footer line is accurate as written. The part that is easy to miss is that naming the licenses is not the same as carrying them: the full LGPL-3.0 and LGPL-2.1 texts belong inside the app itself, next to a pointer to the engine and to the source of the FFmpeg build (FFmpegBuild), and the FFmpeg components need to stay dynamically linked rather than linked in. The adopter steps are in README > License and in FFmpegBuild's README. Easier to get right before a submission than after one.

Thanks Vincent — and the licensing note especially. You were right that it is the easy one to miss: the app named the licenses and linked the repository, but carried neither text.

Fixed now. Settings → About Syravo → Licenses carries the full texts — LGPL-3.0 with your App Store / DRM exception, LGPL-2.1 for the FFmpeg components and libzvbi, BSD-2-Clause for dav1d, MIT for LibDovi, plus GPL-3.0 since LGPL-3.0 incorporates it. zimg is named and linked rather than reproduced, the WTFPL asking for nothing. FFmpeg has its own row linking the exact FFmpegBuild release (2.4.3), and the engine link now points at the 6.32.0 tag rather than the repository root. The frameworks stay dynamically embedded, with a test asserting all nine sit in Syravo.app/Frameworks so a future merge fails the suite instead of shipping. Same list at https://syravo.app/licenses.

Not listed on purpose: SMBClient is in Package.resolved, but it only arrives through AetherEngineSMB, which Syravo does not depend on — no symbols in the binary.

One question, so the record is right. AetherEngine's own code links statically, as an SPM library product does by default; only FFmpeg is dynamic. Your exception names end-user re-linking explicitly and the corresponding source stays at the linked tag, so I read the static engine layer as exactly the case it was written for, needing no separate written offer. If you read it differently, tell me and I will add one.
