I maintain open-source Rust toolchain for the lighting and BIM industries:
gldf-rs (the international GLDF standard for photometric lighting data),
eulumdat (legacy EULUMDAT format),
l3d-rs (L3D format) and bimifc (IFC parsing and BIM rendering).
Each core crate ships to multiple ecosystems from a single Rust source tree — Rust (crates.io, 28k+ downloads), Python (PyO3 / PyPI, 200k+ downloads), Swift and Kotlin (UniFFI), Flutter, and WebAssembly.
The same Rust core powers web showcases (bimifc.de, gldf.icu, eulumdat.icu, iesna.eu) and native Apple apps.
For example, the bimifc library renders IFC files in the browser at bimifc.de — and the same library is embedded in a native iOS app (RoomPlan Simple) that scans rooms via LiDAR and exports them to IFC with full rendering inside the app.
Specialization: cross-platform Rust architecture with FFI
bindings. From a single Rust core, I can ship to Python
(PyO3), Swift and Kotlin (UniFFI), C# (csbindgen), Flutter,
WebAssembly, and the major native platforms (iOS, macOS,
watchOS, tvOS, Linux, Windows, Android).
Active contributor to the broader Rust ecosystem:
- Bevy Engine: Rendering Core PRs and RFC #23480 for photometric rendering
- Burn: Metal backend optimizations for Apple Silicon
- CubeCL, and others
Your sponsorship directly supports continued maintenance of these crates, work on the GLDF standard, and time for new open-source development.
