Please include Git!

As I only need Git repository cloning, I’m planning to use the binary build of jj as a substitute. However, I still believe it’s better to have the real Git included. Git is the only missing piece preventing this toolkit from being a truly standalone development environment. I know this issue has been raised many times in the past, but please reconsider. One w64devkit sfx for all would be far better than having to cobble many things together from multiple sources.

Unfortunately Git isn't architected so well, and cross-compiling remains a challenge. My last attempt was three months ago with the git branch (e3fb069), which builds but produces mysterious errors that have stumped me. (Hmm... maybe Fable 5 can figure this one out...)

You should build Git for Windows, not the stock Git!

Did you ever have a look at the SDK? Download it and see for yourself. It's just a bundle of prebuilt dynamic libraries of some popular libraries Git depends on for Windows, for people who don't want to build these from source! You can use them in your cross-compilation environment to save time building the libraries from source as well.

It doesn't need MSYS2. MSYS2 is only there to provide a Unix-like build environment for Windows users. If you are on real Linux, you don't need it. All the information you could ever want to know is already in the linked PKGBUILD.

I have downloaded and tried jj. It is not a drop‑in replacement for git. To clone a git repository, it still requires git to be installed.
