Thanks. This looks like the winget package rather than Markpad itself.

Every Markpad manifest on winget (2.6.10 through 2.7.6) declares the package as installed for all users. If your 2.7.3 went in for just your account, winget won't apply the upgrade. It still lists 2.7.6 as available because that list comes from the source index, which doesn't check any of this — the check only happens when you run the upgrade, which is why this is the first time it has shown up.

Could you run this and paste what it prints?

An entry means a per-user install and confirms the cause. "Unable to find the specified registry key" means something else is going on and I'll keep digging.

To get 2.7.6 in the meantime, either:

• Check for Updates… in Markpad's settings, which updates in place, or
• uninstall, then winget install --id alecdotdev.Markpad --scope machine

The winget manifests live in microsoft/winget-pkgs and are published there by a bot, not from this repository, so the fix is a manifest correction on that side. I'd like to confirm the cause before sending it.
