Hello,
first of all, thank you for Calculator++. I have been using the app
for many years, originally from F-Droid, and I especially appreciate
the floating calculator / mini calculator feature.
My installed version is 2.3.3 from F-Droid.
Currently, the floating calculator can be started in two ways:
- By using the separate launcher icon that is installed together
with the main Calculator++ icon.
- By opening the full Calculator++ app first and then starting the
floating calculator from there.
For my usage, both options are not ideal.
The floating calculator is very useful when I already know that I want
to calculate something while looking at another app, for example a
spreadsheet, a document, a website or another app with numbers in it.
In that situation, I usually want to start the floating calculator
directly, without first opening the full calculator.
At the same time, I would prefer not to have a second permanent
launcher icon on my home screen or in the app drawer. It takes extra
space, and it feels like something that could be handled more cleanly
from the main app icon.
My suggestion:
Please add an Android launcher shortcut to the main Calculator++ icon,
so that a long press on the main app icon shows an option such as:
"Open floating calculator"
or
"Open mini calculator"
This would allow users to start the floating calculator directly,
without needing a separate launcher icon and without first opening the
full calculator.
Ideally, the existing separate launcher icon could remain available for
users who like it. But it would be very helpful if there were also an
option to hide or disable that separate launcher icon and use the
long-press shortcut instead.
Thank you for considering this.
