1.0.9707.23993
OS
Windows 11 25H2
What is wrong?
Plenty of issues with the program.
- Network is pretty unoptimized.
I could run a download for the same updates and it may or may not download at full bandwidth and sometimes end up running at pretty slow ass speeds. (A speed indicator in the UI would be much more efficient to troubleshoot - maybe even a speed control) (okay this might be related to the backend update service, the CDNs it delivers from and user settings - hmm kinda curious if there's something that can be done about it)
Okay never mind. Downloading through download managers on a single thread works totally fine.
- Sometimes it creates updates.ini file and sometimes it wouldn't.
- Updates are half downloaded. Not sure what's up with this one. For example:
Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Version 1.455.498.0) - Current Channel (Broad)
http://download.windowsupdate.com/d/msdownload/update/software/defu/2026/08/am_delta_1d85811ac85c1835c8e841fd0e9aa79836ce5c4a.exe
This update is stated to be ~204 mb and this tool was only downloading a 21 mb file. Whereas the wumt from stupid user works totally fine to download the ~204mb there were separate files which also needed to be downloaded.
What's bizarre, while trying to troubleshoot this issue somehow this same update now shows up as 1.43 GB in this wumt and 10.33 mb in the other wumt by stupid user. This new wumt now also showed several other links but the total overall download was barely about just 10mb. All I changed was my delivery optimization settings and my network from metered to non-metered. Speeds were unaffected. But had this bizarre effect nonetheless. Never knew Windows update was so fucking weird :)
What did you try already?
