scholarly.bibtex is unreliable?

The example using scholarly.bibtex given on the website works, but many other cases don't seem to. For example:

author = scholarly.search_author_id('mj2obeQAAAAJ')
author = scholarly.fill(author,sections=['indices','publications'])
pub = author['publications'][0]

Answering my own question a bit. The publication is missing pub_type or bib_id so the conversion to Bibtex fails. For now I am doing try:
bibtex_str = scholarly.bibtex(pub)
except KeyError:
print('entry is missing pub_type or bib_id so skipping\n')
continue

To get around this.
