Extension
https://www.raycast.com/sven/microsoft-teams-calling
Raycast Version
0.71.4.0
OS Version
macOS Tahoe 26.5.2 arm64
Description
The extension's setup step in the README can no longer be completed: Settings → Privacy → Manage API no longer exists anywhere in Microsoft Teams (new client, macOS), so the "Enable API" switch it asks you to turn on isn't there to turn on.
Microsoft has retired the legacy third-party meeting/call control API this extension depends on for mute, camera, blur, raise hand, etc. This is referenced in Microsoft Message Center notice MC1266901 and covered here: https://muteme.com/blogs/news/dont-panic-a-solution-is-coming-for-our-teams-users
Cited reasons are security concerns and low adoption (~11,000 monthly active users ecosystem-wide). Rollout appears to be happening gradually through 2026, with full shutdown targeted for summer 2026 — which would explain why some users still see the toggle while others no longer do.
Steps To Reproduce
- Open Microsoft Teams (new client) on macOS.
- Go to Settings → Privacy and look for "Manage API" — it is not present (checked the full page, scrolled to the bottom).
- Join a live Teams meeting.
- Trigger the "Mute" command from the Raycast Microsoft Teams Meeting extension.
- No "New connection request" prompt ever appears in Teams, and Raycast shows "Cannot connect to Microsoft Teams".
Current Behaviour
All extension commands that talk to Teams (mute, etc.) fail with a generic "Cannot connect to Microsoft Teams" error, because the local third-party API Teams used to expose has been removed/retired by Microsoft.
Expected Behaviour
Either the extension detects this case and surfaces a clear message that Teams no longer supports the required local API, or the README is updated to note that setup currently cannot be completed until Microsoft ships a supported replacement API.
