How to seek when playing stream?

player.seek(15,2) works fine with local files (begin playing at 15 secs) but is ignored when streaming.
How can I start a stream at 15 secs?

This is probably an issue with mplayer itself. Seeking in streams is often problematic, and depends on the stream format and server used to send the data.
