I assume you have trouble connecting to your local PostgreSQL server, we do that using the user socket if the user in PSQL has the same name as your unix user. This should work fine if you followed the install instructions for Odoo from source.

My database is shared between 2 developers using the same machine, so the connection is remote and not via socket, and logically it has authentication.
Another Setting would be when we have the Postgres database in a Docker on the same machine.

@brinkflew Is there a still chance we could get this feature or a --db-password flag in the future? I have to use password auth for other preferred tools unfortunately.
