Goal

Make near CLI installable with:

brew install near

Rollout

• Merge the official tap formula: feat: add near formula homebrew-tap#1
• Verify brew install near/tap/near from the tap's default branch
• Merge cargo-dist publishing and installation docs: feat: publish Homebrew formula near-cli-rs#632
• Verify the next near CLI release updates near/homebrew-tap through the scoped deploy key
• Land the source-building homebrew/core formula: near 0.29.0 (new formula) Homebrew/homebrew-core#294234
• Verify brew install near on a clean Homebrew installation
• Update near CLI docs: docs: add Homebrew install option for NEAR CLI docs#3079

Notes

• near was unclaimed in both Homebrew/core and Homebrew/cask when this work started.
• The tap is the immediate upstream-controlled path for macOS and Linux.
• Homebrew/core is required for the exact unqualified command on a clean installation.
• The core formula disables near CLI's self-update feature and retains Ledger, Ledger BLE, contract inspection, and contract verification support.
• The current GitHub metrics clear Homebrew's normal notability threshold
