December 2026 reminder thread — Basic auth for SMTP AUTH shutdown

Microsoft disables Basic authentication for SMTP AUTH by default on existing Microsoft 365 tenants at the end of December 2026 — printers, NAS backups, and legacy apps using a plain username/password against smtp.office365.com will start failing around then if nothing changes first.
