[Question] Can this be adjusted to support istio gateways?

Relatively new to kuberenetes and I am using istio with gateways. Having issues getting cert-manager to work with GoDaddy and found this repo. But I am not sure if the annotations work only for ingress or they can also be added to gateways as well.
