Thanks for the report — and yes, auto-retry is exactly the right call.

Root cause: the gateway drops the connection before sending the data: [DONE] sentinel (confirmed against the OpenCode stream contract in the VS Code source — streamTransformer.ts expects data: [DONE]). #178/#180 already added a single transparent retry, but only when nothing had been emitted yet, and flaky models like Ox Alpha truncate repeatedly, so you saw the error every turn.

Fix in #186: the truncation (and idle-stall) paths now retry in a bounded loop of up to 3 attempts before throwing. It stays gated on zero emitted content, so a retry can never duplicate what's already in the chat (VS Code flushes streamed parts before showing a provider error). Worst case is exactly 3 extra attempts — no infinite loop.

If it still fails after 3 retries, the connection is genuinely dropping every time (VPN/firewall/proxy), and the message now says to just resend — a manual resend is a fresh request.
