The attached modification of d01_standard_geometries.py demonstrated that if the number of detector rows is set so the detector z-span is less than the scaled recon volume, the slices outside the detected FOV are repeats of the last valid slice, but should be zero

Should be zero? Says who? This behavior is intentional as it has many uses especially performing iterative reconstruction of an object that extends past the top/bottom of the detector. Demo script d34_iterative_reconstruction_long_object.py shows this in action.

Thanks for the clarification. It should probably be explained in the documentation, as it seems to have caused confusion in more than one case.
