Fresh compatibility review of the MacBook dogfood PR train

Goal

Perform a fresh review of PRs #252, #249, and #253 before any merge, focused on whether they can degrade existing installations or the Mac Mini system.

Review order

1. fix: bound Obsidian CLI capability probes (#250) #252 Obsidian probe containment.
2. feat: sync with an existing jarvOS installation (#248) #249 sync with an existing installation.
3. fix(init): fail closed on existing workspaces (#251) #253 fail-closed init, including its dependency on feat: sync with an existing jarvOS installation (#248) #249.

Done criteria

• Review exact heads and their diffs against their current bases.
• Re-run proportionate focused/full tests.
• Examine upgrade/backward-compatibility, config preservation, symlink/path containment, vault-write boundaries, and rollback.
• Record P0-P3 findings and an explicit merge/hold recommendation per PR.
• Do not merge or change external runtime state as part of this work item.

Fresh Luna/max exact-head review completed. All focused suites passed and no P0/P1 findings were found, but all three PRs remain HOLD pending bounded fixes:

• fix: bound Obsidian CLI capability probes (#250) #252 / 5048426: P2 — first-64KiB capture can discard the final => result from a verbose healthy CLI, misclassifying it as incompatible. Preserve terminal output or make truncation explicit; add regression.
• feat: sync with an existing jarvOS installation (#248) #249 / fe9acc3: P2 — portable-config recognition wrongly requires derived optional paths.tags; the actual existing-install shape is sent to manual-reconcile, contradicting dogfood evidence. Recognize schema-valid derived paths; add regression.
• fix(init): fail closed on existing workspaces (#251) #253 / 8f6be29: P3 — compatible-install detection follows required-file symlinks while smoke validation rejects them. Make classification and validation consistent; fix(init): fail closed on existing workspaces (#251) #253 also remains blocked on feat: sync with an existing jarvOS installation (#248) #249.

No Vault writes or config mutations occurred. Focused results: 34/34, 119/119, 120/120.

Review completed and acted on. PR #249 merged at 9a1384b after repeated exact-head compatibility review; PR #253 merged at 5b7a31e after symlink, stale-path, Vault-containment, and macOS alias fixes. PR #252 remains draft/HOLD because cached-PID cleanup can kill unrelated processes after PID reuse; its safe redesign is tracked in #268. No production runtime, Vault, Obsidian process, or MacBook activation was changed.
