Issue description
No sound, neither system (e.g. menu music) nor in games.
This issue has been reported several times specifically for Trimui Smart Pro but old repos were all frozen before this read addressed. Some workarounds were suggested but they seem to have been specific to previous releases.
I have not found a way to restore sounds system-wide. I don't get music in menues any more (used to work) and all games start without a sound.
Detailed reproduction steps
Unknown but in one of the past reports, user observed that his sounds disappeared after installing Ports. I can't confirm this but sound did work with fresh install and while I was configuring my card (which included Ports) sound disappeared.
Details of any attempts to fix this yourself
I have found a semi-reliable way to enable a sound per game, but I haven't quite worked out the order of steps. However, after several attempts I manged to get the sound working in a few games I tried. In all cases volume control does not work (there is no popup showing current volume when pressing volume buttons and sound volume does not change).
Steps to enable sound per game:
- Go to RetroArch Main Mene -> Settings -> Audio -> Output
- Audio should be alsathread
- Set Device to samplerate
- Disable/re-enable Audio
If this doesn't work, try step 4 first before step 3. Repeat a few times, eventually sound starts working.

Installed fresh image on new card, installed Ports, added my bios files and roms.
