This time last week, I was setting up my brand new JetClock Zero. Initially I had it set up on a large screen where I also have a Mac Mini. However, I was constantly turning around to keep an eye on the screen and notifications since it is behind me at my main desk.
So, I ordered a 15" travel monitor, 3D printed a stand for it and now have JetClock Zero just to the right of my primary desktop. My eyes now catch the upward motion of a notification popping up out of the corner of my eye and I can glance over to see what is passing by.
I have decided to max out range and altitude to detect everything I can passing through Northeast Florida as it is a very busy airspace with civilian, commercial, private, and military airports.
As you will see by the screenshots, I get a lot of Cessna 172's because I live about three miles away from a small airport called Cecil Field (VQQ). It used to be a United States Navy base but now is a small commercial airport that is also designated as a Spaceport.
I also have Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) 13 miles by the way the crow flies, 42 miles to North East Florida Regional Airport just north of St. Augustine (UST), 8 miles to Jacksonville Executive Airport at Craig (KCRG), plus two United States Navy Bases - Naval Air Station Jacksonville (KNIP) at a distance of 8 miles and then Naval Base Mayport (NRB) at 18 miles. These two bases are why I also pick up a lot of H60's on my JetClock Zero.
It has been a lot of fun customizing this device and helps me to put a name to much of the air traffic I see around me here on the westside of Jacksonville, Florida. The Logbook by far is my favorite feature with all the data you can dig into.
