JSONB type missing from pgtype in pgx/v5 - what's the recommended approach?

I'm migrating from pgx/v4 to pgx/v5 and noticed that pgtype.JSONB seems to be missing from the github.com/jackc/pgx/v5/pgtype package. In v4, we extensively used pgtype.JSONB for handling PostgreSQL JSONB columns.

Questions

• What is the officially recommended Go type for JSONB columns in pgx/v5?

• Was pgtype.JSONB intentionally removed or moved to a different package?

• Should we use native Go types (map[string]any, custom structs) directly, or is there a new type-safe approach?

• Are there any examples showing the current best practice for JSONB in v5?

json and jsonb are automatically unmarshalled. You should use whatever Go type you want the it unmarshalled to, or json.RawMessage is you just want the bytes.

pgtype.JSONB was intentionally removed as it was superfluous.

As far as examples, you could look at json_test.go and jsonb_test.go, but normal usage is pretty straight forward. Scan into your target Go type directly.
