Potential as a full app?

Hey there, thanks for chiming in. Have you looked at mare-player vs cosmic-applet-mare, in our released assets?
Do you mean installing both at the same time? Not sure how many COSMIC DE users would want both executables in the system (one use will win?).

As for the standalone mode, it is very list-oriented and a copy cat of the applet one, for now. Can be so much better done with better widgets. Patches welcome!

Theme customization, credit page, full on artist pages, exclusive, and bit perfect mode, artist bios. Also would be nice if there was a build option that has both the applet & the app would be easier to package it for nixpkgs. Sone has a cool set of features and feels more fleshed out :3 I recommend trying it to get some ideas.

Interesting. So full disclosure, the standalone version of Maré is not high in my priority list. A total nice-to-have, for now. NOT an user myself. So one day I'll get to it harder? Much to fix/improve in the both sides without much attention to the standalone in particular, for now.

• theme customization: I'd just go with COSMIC theming support for that
• credit page: care to give a print of example?
• bit perfect: not in scope. places i've seen doing that want an exclusive lock on an audio card, big no here
• what is not 'full' about our artist pages? artist bios are there!
• you can always can the just target for applet, then standalone. Do you want to package it for nix, is that it?
• I've seen Sone. nice indeed, but again, standalone low in my prio list for now.

May I ask for the reasoning behind no bit perfect option? It would be nice for DAC setups as an option. For standalone it would be nice if there was a hybrid mode e.g it builds as a standalone app and applet so I can choose to open the app or the applet or alternatively the app syncs with the applet. Here the credit page.

Because that means it only works with the app taking exclusive ownership of an audio sink/card? I have zero use cases for such extremes, I like my sounds all multiplexing together. That is fork material, feel free to go that route ;)

I don't know about running applet AND standalone modes together, makes little sense to me. If more people start asking for that and convincing me, maybe?

As for the credit screen, now there--thank you for reminding of that miss.

Fair I think the standalone mode would be nice when I want a full screen app plus lyrics :p just using mare player for anything but ig that may be niche? Also does the app work with a DAC without exclusive mode :p
