About the "Restart required" message #343

Does this message indicate that a restart is actually required or is it just a notice that is always there indicating that updates will be applied on restart? Because if it's the former mine is always showing and I guess it shouldn't?

This means that updates have been downloaded and when you restart they will be installed, as long as you leave the option checked to install them. You should notice a progress bar when you restart that indicates it is installing updates. Once all available updates have been installed this message will change to indicate that everything is up to date |

Thank you Danielle. Then I guess that I keep seeing this message (i.e.: it never seems to go away) because of this issue elementary/appcenter#2255 maybe? |

The updates system for apps in AppCenter and system updates in System Settings are entirely separate and unrelated systems. So if you're having an issue with system updates, please open a new issue report at https://github.com/elementary/switchboard-plug-about/issues |
