Received a UTD today

I just received my first UTD in quite a while. I've received it in EW, Element Classic, EXA, and Fractal, so someone suggested I post it here. Apologies if this is the wrong location, please direct me to the right place otherwise.

User hasn't contacted me since Jan 24, and I received it June 29th. I wonder if that has something to do with it. I can't remember if they're on Element Classic or EX at this point.

I've sent logs linking to this issue via Element Web. Dunno if that works, but gave it a shot!

@Susurrus thank you for the report! Could you possibly ask the other user to send a report with logs themselves, and/or what client they use? I can see the decryption failure in the logs you sent, and it looks like the other user's client decided not to share the key for the message, for whatever reason. I'd need to see logs from their client (if it's an Element one) to work out what happened!

They were on Element Classic (on iOS I believe). I sent them a message after I got the UTD saying I couldn't see it, then they messaged back asking if it was now working and then I was able to see all their messages from that point forwards. I never ended up receiving the key for the previous message.

I then got them to upgrade to Element X and off EC (awesome that the log in process is so smooth, thanks for making that seamless!).

I could ask if they still have the old app and could send logs, but given it's Element Classic, is that even useful at this point?

Ah, yes - it's quite unlikely we'll fix this since we spend most of our resources on EX now. Upgrading was definitely a good choice :)

From your description, it sounds like EC failed to send a to-device message with the key, for whatever reason. I don't believe we have any issues tracking something similar, meaning this is probably a pretty rare failure mode.
