OpenTrustEngine is dual-licensed: AGPL-3.0 for the open community, commercial license for closed-source / proprietary SaaS use.

You may need a commercial license if…

• You ship a closed-source product (mobile app, desktop, on-premise, embedded) that links against OpenTrustEngine code
• You operate a SaaS that uses OpenTrustEngine and don't want to release your modifications under AGPL
• You want indemnification, priority support, or a patent grant beyond AGPL §11

You do NOT need a commercial license if…

• You call our hosted API at api.opentrustengine.com from your application via the SDK (the SDK is a network client)
• You self-host OpenTrustEngine for internal-only use
• You are a hobbyist, researcher, or non-profit
